Project Overview

This project involved the comprehensive remediation and refurbishment of the Z Takanini convenience store, following fire damage from the adjacent Burger King.

Key Facts

  • Demolition and removal of the existing shop fitout, fixtures, ceilings, damaged roof purlins, front joinery, and other affected structural elements, along with cleaning all interior surfaces to remove fire residue.
  • Complete façade upgrade including new Nu-Wall cladding, new glazing and entry systems, a relocated night pay unit, and construction of a new fire-rated storage room with associated roofing, foundations, and internal guttering.
  • The roof structure was fully replaced with insulated roofing to improve energy efficiency and performance.
  • Internally, works included fire-rated inter-tenancy walls, internal partitions, HVAC/chiller/freezer installation, suspended ceilings, and full wall and floor finishes.
  • Fitout works accommodated a new kitchen, POS equipment, fire alarm systems, and data/CCTV services.
  • Civil works included installation of a new grease trap, realigning wastewater pipework to suit the upgraded kitchen facilities, and reinstating the surrounding pavement

Challenge met
